Arrived in Berlin

Arrived safely in Berlin at noon on Saturday with Marilyn, Caryn, Denise and Anne, and thankfully with all our luggage intact. Took a taxi van to our rental apartment and were very pleased with the look of the place. A wildly coloured exterior and spray-paint looking hallway, but a beautiful, cool, high-ceiling interior with five single beds and Ikea-style furnishings.

The location is excellent. The U-bahn (subway) is just outside the door, as are several patio cafes, restaurants and a huge(!) supermarket. We had a delicious lunch (wiener schnitzel and rhubarb juice) with a lovely waitress who happened to be from Brazil, who Denise happily conversed with in Portuguese.

Halfway through lunch, our sleepless flight suddenly caught up with us and we all began to fade, and after much discussion, we decided to go back to the apartment and take a short nap.

Later, we hopped on the U-Bahn and did some exploring, which included coming upon a fabulous vintage car show. The weather is absolutely perfect, sunny and mild. No rain so far!

Tomorrow we're off to Potsdam, a short train ride away.
